21/09/2015 - Suite of undergraduate scholarships opens for 2016

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Sport, Music and the Arts offers 25 scholarships across all three disciplines each year. Each scholarship has a value of £2,000 per year for every year of an undergraduate programme and acknowledges the outstanding abilities of our student body. Eligibility criteria apply with an application deadline of 15 January 2016.

The Robert Young Scholarship typically offers £30,000 (over three years) to a student from County Durham. Thanks to a £1 million donation from Robert Young, this scholarship will be offered every year until 2042. Eligibility criteria apply with an application deadline of 19 February 2016.

Supported by the St Nicholas Educational Trust the St Nicholas Scholarship typically offers £7,500 (over three years) to students from one of the 26 administrative wards of Newcastle City Council. Eligibility criteria apply with an application deadline of 19 February 2016.

The Durham University Military Scholarship offers up to £20,000 (over four years) to students who have returned to education having been injured, wounded, or sick as a direct result of military service. In some cases a scholarship may also support a student who is an immediate member of family to an individual who has been injured, wounded, or sick as a direct result of military service. Eligibility criteria apply with an application deadline of 26 February 2016.

Thanks to a partnership with BP, the BP Scholarships offers 8 students from Durham University up to £20,000 over the duration of their undergraduate programme. Launched in 2012, the BP Scholarships are intended to encourage and support students with a passion for certain academic programmes listed within BP's list of eligible subjects. This scholarship is open to students who have already enrolled on an eligible academic programme in the year 2015/16. The scholarship will open for applications on 23 September and has an application deadline of 27 November 2015.
